The crime & the cover-up

Initially the Saudi government denied the death of Mr Jamal Khashoggi and claimed that he has left the Saudi consulate in Istanbul alive after getting his paperwork done. But after failing to sell this lie, the Saudi authority announced that Mr Khashoggi is dead. They also told a bizarre story that he died in a fight with the staff in the consulate and the dead-body was handed to a local man for the disposal! It beggars belief! When a man dies in a fight in a civilised state, is it not the duty to call the police to take the body, do the post-mortem and find the killers for the prosecution? But the Saudi authority didn’t take that route. Instead, they pursed the most horrendous path to hide the crime. Firstly, by making a wholesale denial of the murder. Secondly, by restricting the investigation of the crime and now, blocking the enforcement of the justice in the Turkish court.

Enforced Indebtedness to India & the Politics of Appeasement in Bangladesh PDF Print E-mail

The on-going war against democracy

There are only two visible powers in the political landscape of Bangladesh: the people of Bangladesh and the government of India. The political history of Bangladesh is indeed mostly the history of clash of these two powers. Before 1971, India had its incessant war to demolish the arch enemy Pakistan in its eastern wing. After India’s victory in 1971, Pakistan’s war has ended. But India’s war hasn’t. Rather, it has received a new life, new objective and a new game-plan against a new enemy in this strategic land so crucial to India’s destiny. Here, the Indian war is to crush the democratic aspiration of 170 million people of Bangladesh. Moreover, such a war has never been new in India; it is already continuing for 70 years in Kashmir and in its north-eastern provinces. And, it shows no sign to end in the near future.

Why Should Muslims Participate in Elections? PDF Print E-mail

Power of Vote and the old debate

A debate on election has divided the already divided Muslim community in the UK. Some groups have labelled it haram - a divine prohibition. They have proclaimed fatwas that any participation in elections is shirk. Their central point is based on the argument that Allah (SWT) is the only lawmaker, and so Muslims cannot take part in forming a parliament that is not based on his laws. To them, it is not only haram in a non-Muslim country like UK, but also in any notionally Muslim country like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Turkey, Indonesia and others. So the question arises, should the Muslims survive as mere observers of politics, as is the norm in many autocratic Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and others? Ironically, most of the people propagating this fatwa, are born in those middle-east countries and are more in tune with autocratic legacies. Rather, the ulamas in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Turkey, Indonesia, India, Sudan and Algeria are not only participating in elections, but also are taking part in forming governments.

Power-addict Hasina & the Death of Democracy in Bangladesh PDF Print E-mail

The rule of the power-addict & the calamity

Addiction to power is far more catastrophic than addiction to drugs. A drug-addict slowly kills himself; but a power-addict autocrat kills millions. They are more dreadful than any vile animal or bugs on earth. No Tsunami, epidemic or earthquake caused so such tragedies to the mankind as were inflicted by these power-addicts. The annals of history is full of their brutalities. They carry out every cruelties to stay in power. Secrete killing, extrajudicial killing, mass killing and abolition of human rights are the awful expression of such addiction. So, millions had to die in Germany, Russia and China because of the power-addict rulers like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong. They do not give the right of survival to their opponents, let alone give any political space. Only those who submit to their ideological cum political enslavement, enjoy some breathing space in their domain.

Israeli Killings in Gaza & the US Support PDF Print E-mail

The ideological cousins & Israel’s immunity

The world looks dangerously unsafe for the defenseless Muslims. The Muslims of Palestine, Kashmir, Myanmar, Syria, Yemen, Xinjiang and many other parts of the world indeed suffer very badly. The millions of victims of the state-run atrocities can’t see any light of hope even at the distant end of the dark tunnel. How the world can attain any meaningful peace with such a huge number of people living in extreme despair? Palestine was occupied 70 years ago; 5 million of its people still live as refuges in foreign lands with no hope of return. The UN Security Council resolution guarantying their safe return only stays in paper; none of the permanent members talks about its implementation. Those who could stay in occupied Palestine, they indeed live in an open air prison and subject to death at the hands of the Israelis at any time. Till now, the world leaders have proven their total incompetence to deliver any justice to them. Ironically, these leaders try only to contain the symptoms and show little concern to treat the underlying disease.
